Overview of the hospita flex options
hospita flex insurance in a nutshell
Flexible supplementary hospital insurance, often also known as flex insurance, offers you the same benefits as other hospita supplementary hospital insurance policies – but much more flexibility. With hospita flex you benefit from lower premiums than with semi-private or private insurance, but can still choose the higher ward. In other words, if you wish, you can treat yourself to more privacy and contribute to the costs by paying a limited amount.
Flex insurance also gives you a free choice of hospital throughout Switzerland and, depending on the option, a free choice of doctor (as soon as you are at least on a semi-private ward).
There are three Flex insurance options:
- hospita flex with semi-private option: on a general ward or on request (with cost contribution) on a semi-private ward
- hospita flex with semi-private and private options: on a general ward or on request (with cost contribution) on a semi-private or private ward
- hospita flex with private option: on a general or semi-private ward or on request (with cost contribution) on a private ward
Which option is right for you depends on what you expect in hospital and how much you want to pay. The cheapest is hospita flex with semi-private option and the most expensive is hospita flex with private option. We would be happy to advise you on the right hospita option.
To do this: when you are admitted to hospital, state the ward in which you would like to be treated. You can make this decision each time you stay in hospital – depending on whether and to what extent you wish to contribute to the costs.
- If you need less peace and quiet and want to save money during short hospital stays, such as after a minor operation, you can choose a fully insured ward with no cost contribution – i.e. a general or semi-private ward, depending on the option.
- In the case of prolonged illnesses or injuries where you place more value on privacy and tranquillity, you can choose the higher ward – i.e. a semi-private or private ward. In this case, you will contribute to the costs.
Good to know: the cost contribution is limited. Depending on the option, you contribute a maximum of CHF 3,000 or 4,500 per calendar year. If several family members are insured with hospita flex, this maximum amount applies to the whole family.
