Sympany employees run for children with cancer
For the employees at Sympany, the Basel city run is not just about sporting achievement. It’s always about a good cause as well. This year, the Sympany donation went to the Sawera Health Foundation, which is already supported by the Sympany Foundation.
Running for a good cause
For many years, Sympany has been donating an amount to a non-profit organisation for all employees who cross the finish line on the market place – and rounds this up generously at the end. No wonder that the Sympany employees mobilised all their forces again at the 40th Basel city run! This year, they ran for the Sawera Health Foundation, which supports children with cancer and their families. The effort was worthwhile – at the beginning of December, the Sympany running team was able to hand over a cheque in the amount of 5,000 Swiss francs to the Foundation. Abhishek Avasthi, the founder of Sawera, expressed his sincere thanks: “The commitment of the Sympany employees touches me deeply. We will use the donation for our digital health initiative for children with cancer and their families.”
Sawera – helping children with cancer and their families
The Sawera Health Foundation was established in 2021 by the Avasthi family, whose son was suffering from cancer. The Foundation supports children with cancer and their families in better coping with their everyday life around the treatments. For this purpose, they developed an app which helps those concerned to organise their daily life. Since 2023, the Sympany Foundation has been supporting Sawera. Specifically, it participates in the costs for the development of this app. The donation from the city run was added as an extra bonus.
