Dominic Rau joins Sympany’s Board of Directors
Sympany is pleased to welcome Dominic Rau as a new member of the Board of Directors and the Foundation Board from 1 January 2024. Serge Altmann and Rolf Baumann will be stepping down from the Boards at the end of the year due to the limitation on the term of office.
Basel, 14 December 2023 – Dominic Rau (49) holds a doctorate in physics and has many years of experience in the insurance industry. He has significant expertise in risk management, risk governance, capital management and actuarial modelling. He started his professional career at Swiss Re, then moved to consulting at Solution Providers (now Synpulse) and Deloitte, and has been back at Swiss Re in various roles for over ten years. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for Glarner Kantonalbank and an Advisory Board member at True Wealth in Zurich.
As an experienced risk and finance manager and certified board member, Dominic Rau will ideally complement the existing Sympany Board of Directors in the areas of risk management and quantification, capital planning and economic valuation.
Serge Altmann and Rolf Baumann, who have both served on the Sympany Board of Directors and Foundation Board for many years, will step down at the end of 2023 due to the limitation on the term of office. Sympany has taken this change as an opportunity to appoint only one successor and reduce the Board of Directors from seven to six members from 2024.
Sympany is delighted with the election of Dominic Rau and would like to take this opportunity to welcome him. Sympany would like to thank the two departing members of the Board of Directors, Serge Altmann and Rolf Baumann, for their many years of dedicated service and wishes them all the best for the future.
