Sacha Geier to become new Sympany Foundation Board member
Basel, 22 June 2020 – Sympany congratulates its new Foundation Board member Sacha Geier on her election. She will sit on the Board from 1 July 2020 to become familiar with the duties and take office as a Foundation Board member from 1 January 2021. Siegfried Walser, Chairman of the Sympany Foundation Board, is looking forward to working with Geier and says: “Sacha Geier matches the job profile required for the Foundation Board perfectly as a medical doctor and an entrepreneur with extensive management experience. She has in-depth knowledge of the healthcare system and also specialises in strategic work in an environment characterised by change.”
Sacha Geier graduated as a medical doctor specialising in anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine and has proven leadership and management experience. Born in Basel, she worked in various hospitals in Switzerland and in the US, where her roles included chief physician and Board member. In addition to her medical career path, Geier completed a postgraduate degree in Business Administration, finishing with an MBA. In 2012, she founded her own company which supports and advises healthcare organisations in change and lean management and graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2016. Geier has worked for the Hirslanden Private Hospital Group since 2017. As Hospital Manager, she led the Hirslanden Klinik Am Rosenberg through turbulent times before she took over as Head of Medical Systems at Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich, where she is also deputy director and a member of the Executive Board, in November 2019.
“I am highly motivated to work with the Sympany Foundation Board and make a contribution to the continued sustainable development of this dynamic company”, explains Sacha Geier. She will strengthen the Board particularly in the areas of benefits provision and integrated care models. As is the case with all Foundation Board members, she is also a member of the boards of directors of Sympany’s subsidiaries.
Geier’s gradual introduction will ensure a continuous succession and enable the documents to be handed over as smoothly as possible. The limitation on the term of office has led to three members of the Sympany Foundation Board stepping down as of 2021. With the election of Sacha Geier, all vacancies have already been successfully filled. Martha Scheiber and Sunnie J. Groeneveld were elected to the Foundation Board back in early 2020.
