Commercial apprenticeship
The apprenticeship is based on the regulations for basic commercial training and on those stipulated by the training and examination industry “santésuisse”.
During the course of your training in this specialist field, you will learn how to handle claims and provide information in response to insurance queries, and much more. You will also help to assess insurance applications and benefit claims for compulsory health insurance, accident insurance, daily allowance insurance and private insurance. In the event of complicated enquiries, you will work with specialists from other areas and maintain contact with social security organisations.
At the end of the apprenticeship, you will be able to advise customers both in writing and over the phone and provide information for all insurance queries.
The customers in this field are organised by the leading industry association for healthcare insurance, santésuisse. You can find more information here (in German).

Three-year basic training culminating in a Swiss Federal Certificate

Commercial internship
After completion of the WMS’s (business school) compulsory twelve-month work placement to complete the Federal Vocational Baccalaureate (FVB).

Operational conditions
At our head office Jacob Burckhardt Haus in Basel (right next to the station), apprentices can also work in support departments such as finance and human resources. Depending on their training programme, they rotate through different departments every six months, making their apprenticeship rich in variety and experience. The on-the-job training is supplemented by an internal range of industry customers.
